Custom vacuum forming, at industrial scale

Indu Thermoformers is a vacuum forming company in Mumbai, India, forming plastic parts for 40+ years across three generations. From vacuum formed trays and blister packaging to large machine covers, EV panels and refrigerator liners — we vacuum form thin gauge and thick gauge parts on the largest thermoforming bed in India, from sheet we extrude ourselves.

What is vacuum forming?

Vacuum forming is the most widely used thermoforming process. A thermoplastic sheet is heated until pliable, then drawn tightly onto a mould by vacuum, reproducing the tool's shape and surface. Because the tooling is single-sided and works at low pressure, vacuum forming moulds cost 10–20% of an injection mould and are ready in 2–4 weeks — which is why vacuum forming wins for large parts, low-to-medium volumes and fast-moving programmes. For sharper detail and near-injection-moulded cosmetics, seepressure forming.

Vacuum forming is one of several thermoforming processes — or read the in-depth vacuum forming guide.

Vacuum forming process — the heated sheet is pre-blown before vacuum draws it onto the mould
The sheet is pre-stretched with air, then vacuum draws it onto the tool — keeping walls even on deeper draws.

Refrigerator liners in ESCR-grade HIPS

Challenge
An appliance manufacturer needed deep-drawn inner liners that resist stress-cracking from refrigerant blowing agents, hold dimensional stability over a long service life and meet food-contact rules.
Solution
Thick-gauge vacuum forming in our own ESCR + FDA-grade HIPS, with plug-assisted forming to hold wall thickness through the deep draw.
Result
Durable, moisture-resistant liners with consistent walls and a clean matte finish, produced from sheet we extrude ourselves for full grade control.
