The right process for aircraft-interior volumes
Aircraft programmes rarely justify injection-mould tooling — volumes are modest and parts are large. Thermoforming delivers cabin-scale panels and covers with tooling in weeks at a fraction of injection cost, and revisions are cheap as interiors are refined. Lightweighting matters more here than almost anywhere, and thermoformed plastic parts cut weight against metal for the life of the airframe.
Flame retardance and documentation
Cabin parts require flame-retardant materials with the right smoke and toxicity behaviour. We form halogen-free FR polycarbonate (UL 94 V-0) and Shield FR ABS into interior panels, seat-back components, ducting, brackets and covers, with material documentation and traceability. For rail interiors we also hold EN 45545 HL3 grades — the same discipline applied to transport interiors generally.
