Food packaging trays are the highest-volume thermoformed product in the world — and the one where clarity, food safety and cost per part matter most. Indu Thermoformers runs high-speed thin-gauge lines forming PET, RPET, CPET and PP trays for ready meals, produce, bakery and confectionery, from food-contact sheet we extrude ourselves.
Trays engineered for the product and the line
A food tray has to protect the product, seal reliably, stack for transport and run at speed on your fill-and-seal line. We form glass-clear APET for cold produce and bakery, CPET for oven- and microwave-safe ready meals, PP for hot-fill and barrier (EVOH) constructions, and RPET with certified recycled content where sustainability drives the spec. Tray flange, nest depth and denesting features are designed around your sealing tooling, not a generic template.
Why in-house extrusion changes the economics
Because we extrude the sheet we form, gauge, clarity, colour and recycled percentage are matched to your part rather than bought off a shelf — and skeletal (offcut) scrap is reground and re-extruded in-house, cutting both cost and material footprint. Multi-cavity tooling cut on our 5-axis CNC keeps the per-tray price competitive from pilot runs up to millions per year.

We extrude the sheet we form — grade, colour and thickness controlled from the pellet, with no outside vendor in the loop.

Frequently asked questions
Are your food trays food-contact safe?
Yes — we form FDA / EU food-contact grades of PET, RPET, CPET and PP, with Material Test Certificates and food-contact declarations available. Sheet is extruded in-house so the grade is traceable to the resin lot.
Can you supply recycled (RPET) food trays?
Yes — RPET with certified recycled content, and ABA-core constructions (recycled core, virgin food-contact skin). Because we extrude our own sheet, we can certify the recycled percentage.
What is the difference between APET and CPET trays?
APET is glass-clear and used cold — produce, bakery, salads. CPET is crystallised PET that withstands oven and microwave temperatures, used for ready meals that are reheated in the tray.
Do you make trays to seal on our existing machine?
Yes — we design the flange, seal area and nest to match your tray-sealing or fill-seal tooling, and prove denesting and seal integrity on first-article samples before production.
