Trimming burrs are rough, ragged or fuzzy edges left after the formed part is cut to net shape — a cosmetic and sometimes functional defect at the cut line.

Why it happens

  • Dull or wrong-geometry cutting tools
  • Wrong feed/speed for the material
  • Part not fully cooled/stabilised before trimming
  • Vibration or poor fixturing during the cut

How to fix & prevent it

  • Use sharp tooling matched to the material
  • Set correct feed and speed on the router
  • Trim only after the part has stabilised
  • Fixture the part rigidly on datums
